I learned a lot with Missile Blast, but it seems that it is time to get my hands dirty again and finally publish something new.

It is hard to do not let your daily chores to get in the way and distract you from your hobbies and passions. A good example: we just recently moved to a new apartment and still have many boxes to unpack and the living room still looks like a war zone. At least our son loves the chance to find new small treasures in every box.

But while I give the final touches to some simple apps that will keep me motivated and busy, I will continue learning. And the way I have decided to do so is getting my head into the world of Cocos2d-X (www.cocos2d-x.org).

Cocos2d-X is a cross platform port of Cocos2d, and it seems that not only is gaining support from a strong community but gives its users the many advantages of Cocos2d displayed in other platforms, including iOS, Windows Phone and Android.

The main difference between the two engines is that in 2d-X the preferred language is C++ instead of Objective-C. But we should not forget that C++ is a cornerstone of the gaming industry, so this would give me the chance to, not only publish small apps in new platforms, but have acces to new libraries, demos and communities.

Time will tell if this is a good decision, but I am excited of finding new tools to learn and to use in my little projects.

Ive noticed that once you have children, time becomes your nemesis! You envision what you need to do before you go out but a wrench is almost always thrown in the mix and then all of a sudden.......what plan? hehe Maybe it has to do with the fact hat we are new parents and we have yet to perfect that skill with our son :) Anyways, it turned out to be a great day. We found ourselves in our familiar stomping grounds doing the things that we enjoy and with a nice dinner added in the mix! Things like that make me happy. Sooooo.....did anyone do anything particular or sweet? What things make you happy? I'd love to hear! Pleaseee break the silence in here!! :D

Alsoooooo......the new update for Missile Blast is available and has changed the game up a bit! What do you think about it??
Not only due to his presence in our lives but because we have also relocated for hubby's new job. It was quite a challenge to move across country and having all the "packing/taking care of baby obligations" fall on me while he had to relocate earlier to start. I have to say that I dont wish to do that again. Anyone that has moved long distance with an infant can understand where Im coming from!!! hehe Although, things did work out well and we have begun anew in not only a warmer place but one that happens to be full of hustle and bustle. I think Texas has great things in store for us :)
On a more technical note, Diego has returned to working on the game. There was a little bit of a pause due to his need to find a job when we relocated from Spain. I know he is happy to be back in the swing of things. His sleep schedule lately has been minimal though due to his persistence to publish Missile Blast as soon as possible. I have been known to nag him at times about sleeping more often but I know how important this is to him. Frankly, I appreciate his dedication and I know he loves what he does. I really hope that at some point he is able to take his love for game design and become his own full time boss.
I suppose we all have things we catch ourselves day dreaming about....Dream Emigoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07804592740193619488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-636077957940334297.post-84032426808192215632012-02-25T05:11:00.000-06:002012-04-17T20:24:49.836-05:00A Productive Weekend
So this weekend I was able to finish the core of my upcoming iPhone game. I am still tweaking the graphics and testing in different devices but so far the gameplay and main aspects seem to work perfectly.
The worst part was fixing the performance in the older devices. The controls worked in the iPad and 3GS but in the 3G iPhones you could see weird lags or effects. I reworked it all and now all movements are fluent and simple. This week I am going to test small details here and there so I can wrap it up and submit it to iTunes soon!

I will keep you posted about it.
We went ahead and suscribed ourselves to the Apple IOS developer program and are waiting to hear back from them. Apparently, there was an inconsistency when I filled out all the personal information so I have to verify my identity. It will help when the game is able to be tested with their software to ensure maximum efficiency.
My knowledge and interest in games extended to playing the Sims and being exercise conscious with a Wii Fit. That all changed when I met my husband, Diego. The first time that he told me that he was a video game designer, I became quite intrigued! I love people with avid imaginations and a mind to think outside of the box. It was one of the first things that stuck out to me about him plus I had never met anyone that worked in gaming for a living :) Needless to say, things branched out from there. We got married on December 16th, 2010.

Shortly before the wedding, I moved to Spain to be with him. Im not sure how the conversation started exactly but he brought up the idea about creating an Iphone game one day. I had an iphone in the states and downloaded many apps but I sure didn't know the first thing about creating one! The motivation behind creating a game started out as a side project for Diego to work on and also as a means for some financial stability. We were and still are a young couple starting out and like many people were a bit tight. The fact that I have student loans that are now going into repayment hasn't eased our burden!

Our first idea was to start with a more complex game that would take several months to complete. I was able to brainstorm ideas and make suggestions but he was the one that would need to do the majority of the work. My degree in school was criminal justice and certainly doesn't pertain to programming :) Diego begun to spend much of his free time working on this; days off and weekends were all spent dedicated to the game. However, with having long hours at work and commuting,
there is only so much one person can accomplish in a day! Our goal release date was his birthday in July. It was a realistic date and he seemed to be progressing along. In the middle of February, life threw us quite a curveball and surprise. I found out that I was pregnant with our first baby!!! We were super excited of course by the news but it also added more pressure to our situation. During the first few weeks, I was on bed rest so his time was devoted to caring for me and neglecting the game. Finally, when he went to back to it, he came to the conclusion that we needed to come up with a more approachable goal while we still worked in the original idea, so he started to tinker with the code and ideas that he already had. At that point, the July release date was seeming less realistic and with a baby on the way, time was ticking.

So now we, or I should say him for the most part has been working for a while in the new project that we estimate to be submitted to Apple by the time we relocate. Thankfully, he was able to utilize the
knowledge he learned from working on the first project to come up with this one. Im sure Im quite biased when I say this but Im proud of my husband and I know that he puts a lot of his heart into
what he does. He's good at taking a complicated situation and improvising. This year is bringing many changes for us, we are looking to publish this new game and the impending birth of our child
in October.

This post or blog for that matter though isn't meant to trump about our accomplishments or pity our tribulations but to chronicle the game's progress and let you know a little more about us :)Dream Emigoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07804592740193619488noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-636077957940334297.post-85114770841152513432011-06-27T04:21:00.000-05:002012-04-17T21:03:22.062-05:00The Dream EmigosToday we start, soon many news will be published.
